Jim and Marvin, I totally agree that Rootsweb lists were created to share information. There is nothing like the ability to do "look ups" for members to inspire further research. I get very tired of restrictions placed on listers when there is actual study taking place. After all, some of us remember when these lists were always active. This list is better than most lately. I fault all of the "limit setting" for driving participants away. I thought that 'is' what lists are all about. It's not like the discussion was about sauerkraut! I saw the post by Bill Herder and went searching through my 'Herter' records to see if I could assist as a result. I would not have done that if I wasn't privy to the overall discussions.Create a filter to put these e-mails into their own box and use the multiple delete function or delete all if they bother you. Apparently,we have offended some people by cluttering the list with this ongoingthread. In the past I received requests for look-ups on both the list andmy private email. This time, I neglected to include my private email inoffering to do look-ups. My bad - - I apologize.I think the BW list is one of the finest lists I have seen and would not wantto offend anyone; least of all our administrators who do such a fine job.Unfortunately, I thought that getting surnames out in the open would affordmore opportunities to connect with long lost relatives. Perhaps, even knockdown a brick wall or two and find that elusive, "Place of Birth" for an ancestor. We will loose those opportunities with all our surnames hidden away inprivate email boxes. That's sad !So, in the future, I will continue to do look-ups for anyone that sends me asurname, BUT, only if they are sent to my private email. I will not respondto any requests for look-ups sent to the BW list, either past , present, or future. IfI haven't answered your request as yet, please re-send it again to: [email protected] before, the best requests have a single surname with several spellingvariations, a given name, and any other information that may make the searcheasier. To the list administrators; if you find that the BW list is falling asleep, let me know and I'll be glad to liven it up again. To the complainers; I apologize to you but suggest you invest in a deletekey.Marvin Hoerig-------------------------------To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message -------------------------------To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to [email protected] with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
