My Fuchs Family was from Schwaikheim. Came to USA in 1880 and settled in the state of Tennessee. I have my tree back to about 1700 by reading the family registers. I am in possession of my great grandfathers and grandmothers family bible. My ggrandfather was Johann Jacob Fuchs was b 24 Jul 1851, Schwaikheim, d 15 Aug 1916 in Milan, Gibson County, Tennessee, USA. He married Carolena Rauchle 11 Aug 1878 in Schwaikheim. His father was George Friedrich Fuchs (Sr) and Christiane Klingler. George Friedrich came to America, did not like America and went back to Germany where he died in Winnenden 26 Sept 1887. Other family names in the Fuchs line: Kolz/Koelz, Dautel, Haag, Eckstein, Moser, Maier, Staib, Drittler, Braun. My grandfather, William Jacob and his sister, Anna Maria were born in Schwaikheim. I am proud of my German ancestry and my family. I went to Germany in 2008 and it was a dream come true. Mary June, it is great how well you've done getting your Fuchs information. For years I didn't know that my Joseph and Frances Fuchs/Fox were born in Germany and looked for ages for them here in Ohio. Found birth records for the children born in Ohio, no background information there, then finally found census records which said they had been born in Wurttemberg. Found just a couple things in church records, giving some birth information on birth of their children, but no place given except Germany, such a puzzle they are since a town or village is so important. But after fourty years I'm not about to give up now, will keep following trails until hopefully I get something new. Will check your Schwaikheim for clues, thank you.
