a retreat Hello, Raab´s index is not just an index of the prisoners in Rastatt, it is a list of all those mentioned in official records of those that took part in the revolutions, many of who were never in Rastatt. Towards the end of the last revolution part of the Baden army joined the garrison in Rastatt, and held out there until the Prussians brought their siege guns and forced the garrison to surrender. The garrison was then held prisoner within the fortifications. Meanwhile the rest of the Baden army fought a retreat before finally escaping over the border into Switzerland.
