Keith, if you ever used the LDS libraries iou would have to dress and drive, in some instances to another town if you live in a rural or semi-rural area. Ancestry has simply become greedy and are capitalizing on recent increased genealogy interest. I just went into my account and found that I could upgrade to the World subscription for $299 for the year and the renewal for my US subscription would $159 for the year. That is what I paid last year. With gas at $4/gal (US), the cost of going to a local library, if there is one, is more that the subscription to Ancestry. If you went any distance the cost of one trip to that location where your ancestors lived could be significantly more that the Ancestry subscription, and you would have to get dressed to do it.
