I am so glad that so many libraries offer the option of signing on to Ancestry.com for free. And so they should. But can you build your OWN family tree this way? (I don't know, I am only asking.) And if you live in the country, and your library is only open a few days a week, and it is 10 miles or more to the library, is this really an efficient use of time & gas? I prefer to sit in my nightgown with a cup of coffee and peruse what the internet and Ancestry has to say about my morning questions - on ANY morning...............! I, also, (FWIW) am on a fixed budget. But I will sell my vegetables out of the garden to pay for my subscription to Ancestry.com!
