I have giles in my family. My great aunt marlyn welker married a fred giles who died over in germany while in war. Saint Egidius, also in Engish, Saint Giles. 8th century Christian hermit, originally from Athens, but his tomb is apparently in Provence. Considered one of the 14 Holy Helpers (helpers against sickness). Tomb is on the pilgrim trail to Compestela.he is honored in Catholic and Anglican traditions. Not sure of others.
