Diane: I went to Family search online and they have 1880, 1900 Census records for him. Plus civil war records where he fought on the Confederate side. If you check in with those records and maybe try Ancestry.com you may be able to find out more on him and where to look from those records. Hope this helps. Walk in peace, Linn I'm new to this list, and to German genealogy. I'm trying to help my brother-in-law trace some of his ancestors, including Adolphus Peter Crane, who was born in Germany (some sources say Prussia, other Wurttemberg) in 1836, emigrated to America in 1859, and became a harnessmaker in Baltimore. There was a shoemaker of about the same age named Joseph Crane, possibly a relative. Adolphus was a Catholic, and his death record says his father was Anthony. Does this family sound familiar to anyone?
