Dottie, There was little information on Josef Ball's page but here is the rest of the info I hadn't sent earlier. He was a "Militär, Soldat" in the "Revolutionary Army" and his biography reads: Soldat der 7. Kompanie des 3. Infanterie-Regiments, ab 29. Juli 1849 als Gefangener im Rastatter Fort A aufgeführt (49 / 2410*: 2 a). Marvin, Thank you for taking the time to share this additional information. I have a Joseph BALL who was born in 1825 in Gaggenau and died in 1890 in Baden, probably Gaggenau since his death was listed in the same registry as his birth and Christening. . I know his parents, but have not investigated further - marriage children, etc. Joseph is a fairly common name in the BALL family I am investigating. Now, this is pure speculation on my part but if this is the same Joseph Ball I wonder if his experience influenced his cousin to emigrate to the US in 1854 with his family which included 4 sons, 3 in their teens. One of genealogy's endless puzzles. Which reminds me do you have any HORNUNG's from Gaggenau on the list? This is a related family that also emigrated but in 1853 with several sons. Thanks again Marvin. Your time and efforts are appreciated! Sincerely, Dottie -----Original Message----- From: Marvin Hoerig <mhoerig@wi.rr.com> To: baden-wurttemberg <baden-wurttemberg@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thu, Jan 30, 2014 10:30 am Subject: Re: [BW] Prisoner Lookup Dottie, There was little information on Josef Ball's page but here is the rest of the info I hadn't sent earlier.
