I just uncovered a church record that states the person, Friedrich Manges, was a resident of Röderthal. My guess is that this is Röderthal, Bad Dürkheim, RP but I am not finding much on Röderthal itself. Is/was that a village? Röderthal is not listed in the LDS film library, although Bad Dürkheim has been filmed. The marriage of Friedrich's son took place in 1797 in Michelfeld (Angelbachtal), and other members of the family lived in Eschelbach (today part of Sinsheim in Rhein-Neckar-Kreis, BW). Is there anything closer to Sinsheim/Michelfeld that might be the Röderthal I'm looking for? Do you think I'm on the right track here? Carol, I found Roderthal, Germany 80 miles SSW of Frankfurt and 150 miles NW of Stuttgart. Carol, I'm looking all over that area on my detailed German road atlas. I'm finding Sinsheim, Eschelbach, Angelbachthal, but not Röderthal. Perhaps it's a disused term for one of the valleys in that area. A local should know. FYI - thal = valley. As an aside. When I was in high school in Hannibal, NY in the 1970s, one of my English teachers was Bill Hornung.
