    3. Hello Thomas, I read BRAUNEN. The 'e' is the most doubtful, but there needs to be a vowel in that position and the scribble there is most like the other e's in that handwriting. The last n in that word appears to denote case (same as in Bürgern), making the actual family name BRAUNE. That name is listed the Duden Lexicon of Family Names by Rosa and Volker Kohlheim meaning 1. an attribute name referring to brown skin color, eye color, or clothing preference, or 2. a family name derived from the single name Bruno.
