Elsie replied: >>Hello, David, I would order the film 912191 and search for this baptism and the baptisms of all of Theresia's siblings. One or more of the entries may list the birth places of the parents if they were not born in Habsthal. Also search that town for marriage records of the parents and children, you may find something. If the parents were not of Habsthal, they probably married in the wife's home town. As you suspect, you will probably need to find the marriage to find the parents of your Paulus. Someone else may have other ideas. Good luck, Elsie<< And later added: >>PS I see the marriages for that town do not start until 1819 so you may be out of luck with that. Sorry. Elsie<< David, you should exactly do as Elsie suggests: get the microfilmed church records of Habsthal from the LDS, Film Number: 912191, on lease. (Never ever base your ancestry on indexed LDS entries alone.) This film includes: Taufen, Heiraten, Tote (Baptisms, Marriages, Deaths) from 1609 to 1819 _AND ALSO_ Taufen, Tote (Baptisms, Deaths) from 1819 to 1900 _AND_ Heiraten (Marriages) from 1819 to 1870 Then take copies of / check all Strobel, Stroebele, Stroebel (or variants of it) entries and analyze these with greatest care and to every detail. In case you ancestor, Paulus Stroebele, did not originate from Habsthal then you should at least find in any of these records a hint pointing to his place of origin. Even witnesses listed in baptism entries may provide glues to family connections / family origins in other places than the actual place of baptism. If you already have a copy of Theresia's baptism record from 1736, what does the original (!) text exactly say? Good luck, Vera Nagel
