    3. Hello List I have encountered a last name which I cannot decipher, and which could lead to further ancestors. Could someone please help me? The last name in question is on the line which begins 'den 7 Marty ist Daniel...' and which appears after the name Daniel (at least I think it's Daniel and please feel free to correct me). I think the first letter of the last name is 'B'... http://www.bilder-upload.eu/show.php?file=f1ae98-1393794515.jpg   Thank you kindly! Thomas Johnson

    3. I looked at it but it is really hard to make out the letters...  very blotchy handwriting.   I do think there is an i in the name because of the dot that looks like a line above a letter.   It matches the way the letter i was written in other words in the document but I can't tell you what that name is... I know not much help! 2. It is rather clear that Daniel's last name begins with "Brau", but after that it gets more difficult. It may very well be Braumann, as Patricia suggested, but something like Brauner is also possible. Also note that the name may here be not in nominative but in dative (see the next words "Bürgern und Wagnern" instead of "Bürger und Wagner", citizen and wagon-maker), so there may have been an "n" or "en" added to the actual name. So the writing may also be "Braunern" if the name was "Brauner", or even "Braunen" if it was "Braun" - Scribes would sometimes change names that way in order to be very correct. Maybe just have a look which names starting with "Brau..." existed in Sessenheim at the time. His wife's (Anna Maria) last name looks like "Büerlin" to me.
