This was listed for departure from a Belgian sea port."chamfaigre" I know the spelling is wrong. I was hoping it would ring a Bell with some one.
I would guess the word may have been Champagne, the famous wine but more likely the province or now department of France and probably applied to the ship. The Belgian sea port was likely to have been Antwerp if we are talking about across the ocean voyages. What is the context of your question? i.e. when in time, destination of the ship and names of passengers, etc. Eric Schaal -----Original Message----- From: baden-wurttemberg-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:baden-wurttemberg-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of DANIELKATHYK DIETRICH Sent: Thursday, September 04, 2008 3:18 PM To: baden-wurttemberg@rootsweb.com Subject: [BW] Sea Port This was listed for departure from a Belgian sea port."chamfaigre" I know the spelling is wrong.
