Hi Glen, I think I found your family in the 1870 Illinois census in Rock Grove township, Stephenson county. They are indexed under STOLBY at the FHL search labs site and that is what the census taker wrote down. Will send image separately. - Wilberta Stolby, Philip B, age 32, farmer, born in Baden Mathilda, age 24, born Pennsylvania Emma, age 7, born Illinois John P, age 4, born Illinois Ida C., age 2, born Illinois Keller, William, age 15, born Lippe Delmoldt (sic) next house: Stolby, Phillip, age 60, carpenter, born Lippe Delmoldt (sic) Stolby, Christena, age 58, born Lippe Delmoldt (sic) In a message dated 9/28/08 3:48:52 AM Eastern Daylight Time, lawver@ix.netcom.com writes: I am researching the Stolz name from Baden. Philip Jacob Stolz was born there 7 Jun 1838. His father, also Philip Jacob Stolz was born approximately 1811. The son immigrated about 1852 and settled in Stevenson CO. IL. The father may have immigrated at that time also. I do not find the family in the census until 1880 in Seward CO. NE. They had moved there about 1874. I don't know why they cannot be found in the 1850, 1860 or 1870 census. Are there searchable church records for the Baden area? Any information you can give me about this family in Baden or in the early years in Illinois would be greatly appreciated. Hi, I cannot thank you enough for your help. I have looked and looked using spelling variation and soundex to no avail. Sometimes it just takes someone else looking. It also gives me renewed confidence in this email system of inquiries. Thank you again so much. I really appreciate your help.
