Hi Gerry, Here's another thought; maybe you've already pursued this. I've had some luck over the years using back copies of local American newspapers,old American property records, vital records, and church records while researching my husband's family in the Midwest. Michigan, for example, has many records online. This is how I found the Canadian birthplace of my husband's great grandparents. I was amazed at the many details included in old , Michigan newspaper articles. Many Midwestern towns have genealogical societies that are helpful. Just a thought.........
