    3. Chuck, To elaborate on my earlier message: I did a place search in the FamilySearch library catalog page <http://www.familysearch.org/eng/Library/FHLC/frameset_fhlc.asp>. In this case I was looking for records in Magdeburg. The results then tell you all the types of records they have available. For Magdeburg, they had a microfilm containing the records of several guilds, including the button makers, and also the barber-surgeons (Chirurgen) if I remember correctly. This is the only guild book I've ever come across for all the various places that I've searched on there. As I said, some exist, but they're not very common. Maybe you'll get lucky.
