Hello, I am researching an ancestor born in the early 1830's who depending on records was born of parents named Mary Hawkes and a father named Alonso or Lorenzo Harmond. The are listed as being from Germany on several of his vitals. His name was Christopher Harmond. A son was named Frederick Harmond. to me the only German sounding name, the name was passed down to me. I am wondering what you think of the surname and whether it was changed at one point? Or any recommended places to search for info. Christopher served in the Union Navy in the Civil war. A census record led me to the Baden area. Odd time to migrate, 1820's, Napoleonic era?? Thanks Frederick Channell _________________________________________________________________ News, entertainment and everything you care about at Live.com.
