Penny: The Esslingen and Oberesslingen family books are online at: http://www.online-ofb.de/index.html I looked and found Mangolds, but didn't see your ancestor. You need to look, maybe you will be able to identify a connection. kathy bonnell -----Original Message----- From: baden-wurttemberg-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:baden-wurttemberg-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Penny Sent: Thursday, October 02, 2008 7:41 AM To: baden-wurttemberg@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [BW] MANGOLD from Esslingen Hi Listers, I am researching Jacob Christoff MANGOLD born in Esslingen on 5 July 1848. Jacob's apprenticeship of five years with the firm Kessler in Esslingen (which manufactured locomotives in particular) qualified him as a trained fitter. He left Germany before 1865 to go to England and then South Africa where he settled. He had a brother Carl who was born in 1850 who joined his brother later in South Africa. I'm looking for any info about Jacob, his ancestors and his life in Germany.
