Hello Frederick, the name Harmond is not a german origin family name. I know from a researcher in US which have ancestors there named as Harmond or Harmon. I have searched for her about 4 years with no results, and then I could find the german ancestors in Bavaria named as Hermann/Herrmann/Hörmann (Hormann with dots on the o!). Hawkes is also not a german origin family name. I think it can be Haug/Hauk/Hauck or so. The spelling is nearly the same as Hawkes. Hope I could help a little bit.
