The person writing may not have understood the language the person providing the information spoke.? I would try phonetic spellings of stuff that sounds close to the SOUND of your name and then look at everything from that time period till you find it.? I had a tough time finding mine and I knew almost to the day when they arrived.? Finally I read the ships' manifests OUT LOUD till I hit one that sounded like how we say our name.? I was finally able to identify my Greatgrandfather and then the first names of 4 of those associated with him.? The fifth was listed with a family traveling with them...they must have all been standing in line together to be recorded.? Later I found in the old country that his first name has 7 possible spellings depending upon who is doing the writing.?
