Jane, It is highly likely, just as we would do, that you ancestor's story relates to the largest community in the area where they lived. ShtetlSeeker shows there are 131 villages within 10 miles of Heidelberg. In my family story the family came from Stuttgart, but when I finally found the exact village it was 15 miles W of Stuttgart. There are about 347 villages within a 15 mile radius of Stuttgart.
