Hecker: I am a HECKER who researches HECKER. My HECKER family seems to come from Haiger Germany, in the same general area, but not close. I wondered about Col Hecker because my father wondered about him. Recently from a different researcher on the web, I had come upon a story about the background of Col Hecker. It suggested that he was born in the "big" residence, but for some reason of birth had been raised in the family of a trusted underling--likely a HECKER, the head gardener. The person suggested that he did not look like HECKER siblings, and had privileges not available to other family members, etc. He was educated in Mannheim. Only a story? I do not know.
