Hi, Ken, In 1937 Mr. Alfred Dochtermann founded the "Wappenarchiv Dochtermann" (coat of arms archive Dochtermann). In 1977 the name of this archive changed to "Wappenarchiv Stuttgart" (coat of arms archive Stuttgart). Mr. Dochtermann created about 10,000 to 20,000 coats of arms in his life. When Mr. Dochtermann died in the year 1986 his company was sold to a new owner Mr. Hans Winter and from now on was known as "Wappen-Gilde" (coat of arms guild). Both collections (say Dochtermann's as well as Winter's) are today actually owned by the company PRO HERALDICA Deutsche Forschungsgesellschaft für Heraldik und Genealogie mbH in Stuttgart. So my advice would be to contact that company directly and ask your questions there. You should be aware that they will probably charge you for their service. So be careful and ask for their possible charges immediately on first contact. Their homepage is http://www.pro-heraldica.de Near the bottom on the right you fill find the word "Kontakt" - click on it and a contact form pops up. I received from my German cousin a copy of a document of the Oehrle Coat of Arms.? This document is identified as Quellennachwweis (Proof of Source) Wappen-Archiv Dochtermann and is dated Stuttgart, den? 17.7.1951.? I'm curious as to just what this means and how I can learn more about the history of this coat of arms.? The date of 1951 makes me wonder of this coat of arms was originated at that time. I have not been able to locate this coat of arms in the Heraldry of Baden-Wurttemberg,?Germany. ? Any help in resolving these questions would be much appreciated. ? Ken Oehrle oehrle@sbcglobal.net
