Since my grandmother was Wilhelmina Stroebel, who came here in 1883 on the Ship /Morland,/ probable age 15, with no relatives we can find, I would appreciate it if you find anything. She seems to have spent some time in an orphanage in Switzerland, and seems to have come from Wuerttemberg, but otherwise I know nothing. Thanks for any info. I have reached a point of crossing over to Germany, WURTTEMBERG, to find more info on my Great Great Great Great Grandfather Peter Strobel the cegarmaker. He married Mary Strobel in Wurrtemberg and sailed over approx 1857 to New York. I have the 1860 and 1870 census records showing the year of birth as approx 1820. I see they had Charles Stobel born 1842 in Wurttemberg, Mathew Strobel born 1844 in Wurttemberg, and John Strobel born 1860 in New York. I do not have dates of death nor marraige. I cannot find Peter Strobel listed on Castle Garden either. I have found some emmigration record from a Weigheim but on Ancestry it does not give me all the information just a number 850004.00 from the German Emmigration Index. Does anyone have a way to help my look further into these Strobel's in German records? Thank you so much in advanced!!! > > > >
Elizabeth, check out a bertha Stroebele in Philadelphia. I think you might find a lead. I have seen this Wilhemena many times during my research. I have not come across any Berthas at all in my family. I will look for her if you tell me how you ran across her. Wilhelmina did live in Philadelphia, however. Wilhelmina Stroebel married Franz Kuettel, (had 4 children with him, 2 of whom survived to adulthood), then when Franz died, married my grandfather Martin Ault, and had 7 children with him. Martin already had 4, so family trees get complicated. Elizabeth David Stroebel wrote: > Elizabeth, check out a bertha Stroebele in Philadelphia. I think you might find a lead.
