Happy New Year to All. I am searching for information on a Mathias Schlageter. My Mathias Schlageter was born in Baden about 1824. He came to the US, married and had several children, two of whom were twins, Mathias & Joseph. BD abt. Sept 1870 I have found NY Passenger records for a Mathias Schlageter, birth year 1824, traveling with a Mathias Schlageter birth year 1871. The passenger manifest states they arrived in NY from Bremen May 25, 1892. They were from Baden. I also found a Joseph, BD abt 1871 leaving Bremen and arriving in NY Jun 14, 1892. Joseph is listed as female but it is clear on the manifest that it is JOSEPH. All the men are listed as f. It is possible that that Mathias took his sons back to Baden to visit after his wife died in 1891. Are there any emigration records available from Baden for that time period? Thank you Judy Eggers J.
