    2. Shirley, If your referring to the microfilms that are the transcriptions done by Cramer, I have used one. It was typewritten, and more of a transcription than an extraction. It was great to see how someone else had interpreted the various surnames and locations that I could not make out from the writing in the original records. However, I did note there were some records missing here and there. The usual problem with a transcription - someone loses their place, misses a line, etc. Way, way back about 10-14 years ago - before this mail list was part of rootsweb, I think - there was a group of people on the list who were trying to at least index the surnames that appeared in the various Cramer films. With that, a researcher could at least narrow down a village where a surname appeared. You might try checking the archives of the list. So, back to your question - do they provide a short cut? I don't think so other than that several different parishes might appear on one microfilm. And, typing can be easier to read than handwriting. (Bear in mind, sometimes his keys weren't cleaned often enough and so even the typing is difficult to read.)
