René Granacher Of all the spelling variations you have listed for Granacher, there is only one on the list of prisoners. It is one of the more incomplete entries and quite a disappointment. There is no given name, residence, or age. It did say that whoever he was, he was from Baden, a "militär soldat" and was incarcerated in 1849. The remarks column stated: Korporal der 6. Kompanie des 1. Infanterie-Regiments, nach Angaben vom 12. März 1850 von der Generalstaatskasse am 8. September 1849 [?] 60 Gulden Löhnung erhalten (237 / 2783: 12). As for the other surnames you have listed: Baumgartner = more than 2 dozen listed Boller = 5 listed Bohler = many listed Clauser = none listed von Roth = none listed Roth = too many listed I can check further if you like but will need given names. I didn't even look for Maier and the many variations of it because I have been there before and without a given name, it's near impossible. Marvin Hoerig
Marvin, thanks for looking up the names! Pity the Granacher entry does not have any details or at least a given name... The entry is funny in a way, because it seems that before or after being incarcerated Mr. Granacher still received his payment for the military service. "We may shoot you, but first you get your due salary, please sign here" - very German! About the other families: I would be interested in persons named - Johannes Boller (from Hohentengen) - Joseph Baumgartner (from Hohentengen) - Andreas Mayer/Maier (from Hohentengen) - Johann Friedrich Mayer/Maier (from Hohentengen) - Konrad Mayer/Maier (from Herdern) - Eduard Mayer/Maier (from Herdern) - Matthias Mayer/Maier (from Herdern) - Johann Georg Mayer/Maier (from Herdern) - Leopold Müller (from Hohentengen) - Johann Müller (from Hohentengen) - Aloys Huber (from Hohentengen) - Ambrosius von Roth (from Dettighofen) It would be great if you can find any of these in the list! Hi, List! I'm falling waaaaaaaaaay behind in translations and private research for those on several mailing lists. I've got to drop out until I catch up. Back in "the old days" our cry was "Never Give Up!" It still works today! :-) Don Watson ----- Original Message ----- From: <rene.granacher@dlh.de> To: <baden-wurttemberg@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 21, 2009 7:08 AM Subject: Re: [BW] Rastatt Prisoners Marvin, thanks for looking up the names!
