I checked 3 different German emigration sites & no Rheinhold shows up. Did he perhaps have a different first name but went by Rheinhold? Have you checked at Immigrant Ships Trancriber Guild. You can check all their lists by checking by surname. Unfortunately, I speak and read very little German. I am looking for Rheinhold Hermle, born 31 Aug 1827, Blacksmith who served 6 years in the Army of BADEN-WURTTEMBERG. Height 5'8 1/2". Served 6 years in the regular army as a Rifleman. He was given a proper discharge with good conduct. However, he was obligated to serve in the Landwurt for an undetermined length of Time. Signed in Stuttgart on 1 Apr 1854 by Colonel of Regiment Meerdorf. I believe that at some point in time the above Rheinhold Hermle came to the United States of American and married Margaretha Hoffman. Margaretha bore two sons Raymond and Henry Hermle. Raymond married Matilda Gunther and had four children - one of which was my father Henry C Hermle. I know there is a large collection of Hermle families in Gosheim. Is Raymond and English translation of Rheinhold? I will appreciate any advice and/or suggestions on how to continue my search. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lutz Cheryl" <cherylann402@yahoo.com> To: <baden-wurttemberg-l@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, January 14, 2009 12:03 AM Subject: Re: [BW] Help please Hermle I found this entry at one of the online data bases HERMLE RAG. 30 Hi Cheryl -Many many thanks I found the ship Rag (female - farmer) came over to USA on - it was the Rattler port of departure was Harve - dt of arrival 14 Sep 1854 (I think) Let me give you some more info about my brick wall: My cousin has the original marriage certificate of our great-grandfather and great-grandmother "Raymund Hermle & Margaretha Hoffmann". The marriage took place in New York City in 1864. The document does not give the name of a church. The "Certificate of Matrimony" also states that Raymund is 36 years of age and is a native of Gosheim. Working backwards from that, I have documentation that "Reimus Hermlo" enlisted in the Union Army at Governor's Island in 1859. The supporting documents are his discharge papers from the union army and the pensioner paperwork my great grandmother had to file to get living expenses after my g-grandfather disappeared. The Rheinhold comes from a document which my cousin' son has in his possession. He had a friend translate it. It appears to be a possible recommendation for some reason. Also I have the Gosheim "Family Register" from 1809 I did find a Raymund Hermle with the correct birth date but it does not say anything about Amerika as it does for other siblings. I'm just trying to resolve the Rheinhold, Reimus, Raymund situation and confirming passage to the USA. Again thank you so much, Rick Hermle
