    1. Re: [BW] Adolphus Crane
    2. Yes, I can trace him in the States. It's back to Germany that I'm stuck. The only Civil War era record I found was one for A. E. Crane buying a length of rope. Is that what you're referring to? That was in Florida, so not likely mine. There was a shoemaker of about the same age named Joseph Crane, possibly a relative. Adolphus was a Catholic, and his death record says his father was Anthony. 3. Bob, That couple, Pauline Buehler and Frederick Alber, have a child baptized in the Evangelish (Lutheran) Church in Oberholzheim, about 50 miles SE of Stuttgart. https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/V4GM-181 The best way to find if your Johann Heinrich Alber is part of that family is to visit your local LDS Family History Center or participating library and rent the microfilm from Oberholzheim church records that contains the family registers (Familienbuch) for the 1870 era (#1343859 ). If your Henry Alber lived in Colorado, there are 2 family trees that contain information about him, such as his exact birthday, 12 JUL 1870, and his birth place as Wittenberg, Sachsen-Anhalt. http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=genealogy00115&id=I31528 http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2868712&id=I9 At 02:01 AM 12/15/2013, you wrote: >From: "Bob Moore" <moor4933@bellsouth.net> >Subject: [BW] Henry J. Date of death is unknown. http://gedbas.genealogy.net/person/show/32552364 The name "Johann Georg Weiss" is not uncommon in Germany, so it would be helpful if you can provide more information like Parents or other siblings, Religion... 3. Good luck with that! Joanne/ Johanna Susanna Weiser was born April 30, 1809, in Germany, I have a clue in Wurttemberg. Now, I've asked here how I might locate her birth record. In context (logic suggests that the Wurrttemberg entry in the family entry in the census belongs to her and not to her Pennsylvania-born son in law) she was probably born in the KINGDOM or DUCHY of Wurttemberg and not the city of that name. I've been told on this list that I can only find her in church records if I knew the name of the town or village where she was born. She married Jacob Weiss, who was born 3 Mar 1802 in Switzerland. Jacob may be his first name or only his call name, but from 1840 on he doesn't seem to have been known by any other. They were married in Pennsylvania; she was his second wife. They lived in Highspire, Lower Swatara township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. They had five daughters who lived and had children. A number of her descendants have trees at Ancestry.
