I am looking for information on George Hahn who was in Fairfield County, Ohio, and married Mary Catharine Schnitzer/Sneedzgar. Suspect 2d marriage for George, as it was for Mary Catharine. Thanks to all. Marguerite Crist Calvin
Thanks everyone for the advice and the article in the sun sentinel. That was a great article. I found some general information about the torch trail in 1936. Hopefully I can fine more information or an article from Vienna at some point. Again thanks for the help. > On Feb 8, 2014, at 8:42 PM, Carolyn Lass <class9597@icloud.com> wrote: > > I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I might find a picture or article of one of the 1938 Olympic torch bearers. My 6th gt grandmother was Susanna Hahn (Serfass) (1756 - 1824). I traced the line back to Johannes Michael Hahn (1658). Can someone help me find any information on our ancestors? Mother and father supposedly were Johann Friedrich Uhl born about 1804 who married Anna Elisabeth Gehler born about 1800 - they married in 1827 in Sokolowo Budzynskie (Poland). One of their sons was named Friedrich Uhl, born 1835 in Baden. Another son was Charles Carl Uhl born 1830 in Baden. I'm sorry that I don't know any more than this. Thank you for helping. Sandy Rhoades Uhl
I am not receiving the Baden- Wurttemberg digest but am receiving all emails from members.. How do I receive this? Thanks , Terry ---

Hi Peter, If there were postings about Hahn on rootsweb you can query for that in the archives and see all the old postings (I admin some boards for rootsweb and used to admin lists) go to: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/BADEN-WURTTEMBERG Now, I did that and found another posting from you that said Otto was born 1816 (see this post: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BADEN-WURTTEMBERG/2013-04/1364979663) and this one: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/read/BADEN-WURTTEMBERG/2013-02/1361990930 while here you say 1828 which is correct? It helps to have the most accurate info since so many people had identical names. If it is 1816 I found this http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=78722725 Often on a death record you can find birth info. This would point you to the right place to look. And I queried the cemetery and found a Rosie ... http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gsr&GSiman=1&GScid=94888&GSfn=&GSln=Hahn https://www.google.com/search?q=%22Otto+Hahn%22+and+%22Gustav+Hahn%22&rlz=1C1ASUT_enUS485US485&oq=%22Otto+Hahn%22+and+%22Gustav+Hahn%22&aqs=chrome..69i57.25622j0j8&sourceid=chrome&espv=210&es_sm=122&ie=UTF-8 The long link above I put in exact phrase in advanced google search for "Otto Hahn" and "Gustav Hahn" just the way I typed it. I got 7,420 hits. I know some of these are not yours. But if you do a more specific search you may find more... http://genforum.genealogy.com/cgi-bin/search.cgi?forum=hahn&url=%2Fhahn%2F&path=%2Fhahn%2F&terms=Otto&boolean=AND The above link had many Otto Hahn listings in Iowa Hope this helps! Mary Lou, There are no BOLTZ, BOLTZE, or BAULTZER on the list. There is a Karl Josef Blaser listed. He gives no age or birth place but claimed residence in Külsheim, Tauberbischofsheim, Baden. He was incarcerated in 1849 and was a member of the Revolutionary Army. He claimed to be a Dyer (Färber) His biogaphy reads: Soldat des 2. Infanterie-Regiments. Nach Mitteilung vom 26. November 1849 in St. Gallen, wegen Ausstellung eines Ausweises zur Heimkehr aus der Schweiz (49 / 2408*: 483; 48 / 3078*: 27; 49 / 2410*: 58). Bis zum Mai 1850 nicht gestellt, daher Staatsbürgerrecht aberkannt (215 / 379: 92; GAUK, 1850, S. 525). Am 11. Juni 1850 von St. Gallen nach Amerika bzw. England emigriert (236 / 8536*; 236 / 8576*). I also found a Karl BOLZ if that may be of interest to you. He was born about 1825. He claimed residence in Eggenstein, Karlsruhe Land, Baden. This guy was also incarcerated in 1849. I am wondering if anyone has any ideas on how I might find a picture or article of one of the 1938 Olympic torch bearers. My husbands uncle ran with the torch but we do not know where he ran. It is said that a cousin has the torch but I have not been able to confirm. We also think he might have been a trainer at the Olympics. He was from Vienna not Germany but I was hoping maybe someone would have an idea of where I could find this information. His name was Eric Frisch. Any advice or help would be appreciated. Carolyn

My cousin adopted a child from Russia. The torch passed through the town where the child was born. I went to the town's web site and saw many photos of the torch passing through the small town. In a larger town nearby they also had photos posted on their town's web site. A lot of work but, you might start by tracing the track, on a map, there are many routes posted on the Internet. Just Google 'Olympic Torch Route' or some other combination of the name. Locate the many villages and towns on the route and start your research on each of the towns web sites in the country you're looking for, looking for photos. If you want to get fancy, you can look at Google's MyMaps and create a track by dropping pens on a map you create. I would like to inquire about the surname: BOLTZ - BOLTZE - BAULTZER - BALSER (sp. used by his father-in-law, John Sphar) in his will) First name: Karl - Carl - Charles BORN - between 1821 to 1825 - Gives birth place as Prussia (sp. was hard to read) in the 1860 census, but the parents as born in England in the 1880 census.(died before the 1900 census so it can not be double checked. --- military for him or his father is mentioned and handed down thru an unreliable source. He was in his mid 30's when he married Elsie Sphar in Brownsville, Fayette county, Pennsylvania. Seemed kind of old for a first marriage for him. I would appreciate any help you can give me, which initiated my query into him as a possible prisoner. Thank you for your time and consideration.
