It-Baden-Baden is still there. Same place. Has nothing to do with Holland. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baden-Baden Robert A. Valois In a message dated 3/8/2014 8:35:25 A.M. My ancestors came from Baden, Baden. And, according to family story is that they lived near the Dutch boarder in the 1820's. Can any one let me know where I can find where Baden, Baden was on the map of Germany today? Thanks, Deloris

Do you know which "French church" in Stuttgart this probably referred to? His father, Charles VALOIS, from Hanover, his mother, Elisabeth CHEVING(actually it is SCHWING), is deceased. He himself was born in Stuttgart in 1734: --The Sire Jacques Nicolas VALOIS… born in Stoutgardt in Germany as witnessed from the certificate of the baptistery on the 29th of January 1734 signed by Jean George BLANCHOT protestant minister in the French church of the said city of Stoutgardt where he was baptized by the said BLANCHOT acting minister of whom it is also witnessed that he was baptized by Reverend father BENNO Capuchin friar deputy established by the Court of Rome in the said church of Saint Etienne on the following September 20th… Is there a St Stephens church in Stuttgart? Bert, Thanks so much for the "places in Germany" site. It is a really user friendly one. It answered my question as to how far Winden was from Sinzheim and how far Sinzheim was from Haueneberstein, where my ancestors lived, and how far they all were from Baden-Baden. It is also great because it covers all of Germany not just Baden-Wurttemberg. Great web-site for all doing research in Germany! Thanks so much for contributing this. Well John is Jean in French so I am not really surprised - although Dutch - he probably said Jean in some accent! And throw in the French interpreter... There are other sources of course, but my favorite website to find places in Germany is: _www.places-in-germany.com_ (http://www.places-in-germany.com) Bert Balt Rochester, NY
Robert and Bert, Yes, those three villages are near each other. Ettlingen is a suburb of Karlsruhe. Malsch is about 4 miles SW of Ettlingen and Kuppenheim is another 4 miles SW of Malsch. All are about 6-7 miles east of the Rhein River.
