    3. If the records aren't in the FHL at SLC they are in the municipal offices of the communities listed. You can find complete information for contacting them at....... http://members.cox.net/hessen/hsstory.htm It covers all of Germany. The telephone directory comes complete with instructions, as does the town locator. Today there are at least three Weilheims. The zip code for your location is 73231. :-) Don

    3. Obergimpern is a village in Baden, not far from Bad Rappenau. I have not found any reference to another Obergimpern in the immediate vicinity of Heidelberg itself. Obergimpern is found in the Amt (somewhat akin to the U.S. county) of Sinsheim. I checked the catalog for the films held by the LDS at the Family History Center in Salt Lake. There are films for Obergimpern for both the Katholisch and the Evangelisch churches there that cover your time period. I would suggest that you go to your nearest Family History Center and order the film that covers the birth period for your ancestor. Look for his Taufen or baptism. Even if you don't read German, you won't have trouble figuring out the pattern in the baptismal records, enough to find the name Detterer. Also, it's quite likely that your local center has other researchers working with German records who will be happy to help you. You can trace backwards, using the baptismal and marriage (Heiraten) records of the Detterer ancestors. Here, for example, is the link to the microfilm contents for the Evangelisch church in Obergimpern: http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhlcatalog/supermainframeset.asp?dis play=titlefilmnotes&columns=*%2C0%2C0&titleno=121729&disp=Kirchenbuch++ Good luck! 1. Re: [BW] Schlageter emigration
    2. Marvin Hoerig
    3. Judy Eggers, There were 25 Schlageter/Schlagetter/Sahlageders held in Fort A of the Rastatt Prison during the 1848/49 Revolution. Unfortunately, they are from nearly that many different towns. It would have been nice to find most from the same town, giving you a good place to search for your Mathias. Information on all 25 is very limited - - there are even three that have no given names listed. There is one Mathä Schlageter (male) listed from Lienheim, Waldshut, Baden but there is no age given in his record. No occupation listed either but it says he was incarcerated in 1848 for "highly treasonous activities". Is it possible that your Mathias, (who named one of his sons Joseph) could have had a brother Joseph or perhaps his father was a Joseph. There are three Josef Schlageters listed and again, no ages for any of them. Do you have any other given names that I might check for you ? I find that the vast majority of the 32,000 prisoners were, (when ages were listed) in their 20 so that makes your Mathias a good candidate for a visit to the stockade. Nearly all these 25 Schlageters were from small towns fairly close to a line between Frieburg and Waldshut. I doubt that this is much help but it narrows down the search area in Baden. If you like, I can send you a list of the towns of residence listed for all these Schlageters. Marvin Hoerig [BW] Schlageter emigration > Marvin, > No I don't. 3. Hello Manuela Yes they are my direct ancestors. I am so lucky to find the Familienbuch Musberg. I would be so happy for you to find out more. If that would not be too much trouble. The book is in German and I stumble through some of the translation. . . but there is so much I cannot understand. I keep trying. 3. Is there anyone reading this who is willing to translate, (or try to), a short postcard written in 1910, and, at least partially in “old German script?” If so, I will scan and send it. It could hold valuable clues for me. Thanks, ML No virus found in this outgoing message. Checked by AVG. Version: 7.5.552 / Virus Database: 270.10.2/1874 - Release Date: 1/4/2009 4:32 PM
