N.    Don't know if you have this information:  Regina Menold married Johann David Benz on 16 Jan 1715.    Katharina Dorthea Koelle (Kölle) married Johann Christian Seybold on 11 Sept 1836.  Kathraina is the niece of my ancester Johanna Regina Roesch (Rösch ) who married Christoph Friedrich Gerlach and Johann Gottfried Weigle.   I'm willing to share what I little have.   Cathy Message: 1 Date: Mon, 9 Mar 2009 15:51:53 +0100 From: "Andreas Draeger" <andreas.draeger@gmx.de> Subject: [BW] Lauffen a.N. : Eberbach, Allinger, B?hner, Seybold, Amos, K?hner, Menold, Donner, Metzger, ?ttlin To: <BADEN-WURTTEMBERG@rootsweb.com> Message-ID: <NLELLPCJKPKCENEKMKLPOEDGCCAA.andreas.draeger@gmx.de> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Hello * I look for contact to ancestor researchers with families from Lauffen a.N. 1. Re: [BW] [BADEN-WURTTEMBERG] Frederick HECKER
    2. Hecker: I am a HECKER who researches HECKER. My HECKER family seems to come from Haiger Germany, in the same general area, but not close. I wondered about Col Hecker because my father wondered about him. Recently from a different researcher on the web, I had come upon a story about the background of Col Hecker. It suggested that he was born in the "big" residence, but for some reason of birth had been raised in the family of a trusted underling--likely a HECKER, the head gardener. The person suggested that he did not look like HECKER siblings, and had privileges not available to other family members, etc. He was educated in Mannheim. Only a story? I do not know. 3. Shirley, Mail lists will not accept attachments, but message boards will. The best way I've found to make such a document available (and add another audience) is to post it as an attachment to a message board query. If the mail list does not gateway the message board entries (as is the case with the B-W mail list), you will need to post a follow up message to the mail list with the URL. The B-W message board is at http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.ceeurope.germany.baden.general/mb.ashx At 02:02 AM 3/7/2009, you wrote: >From: "Shirley Fox" <shasta@satx.rr.com> >Subject: [BW] Need help with Translation from German document to > English >To: <BADEN-WURTTEMBERG@rootsweb.com> > >I have received some information on one of my Greatgrand mother Afra >Maria Hanser, but am not sure if it is information on her parents or >if it concerns her as it is all in German. Me: Charles, remember, your ancestors were from Rheinau, not Rheinbishofsheim. The former is close to the latter but it's not certain Rheinau residents attended church in Rheinbishofsheim. They may have gone to Freistett. I couldn't figure it out. If you don't mind digging in, what you're going to do is not a bad start but don't be too discouraged if you don't find your people in the Rheinbishofsheim books. Hopefully a list member will enlighten us about where Rheinau residents went to church. If not, go ahead with Rheinbishofsheim. FYI, a group of these villages are now grouped together into the municipality of Stadt Rheinau with website at www.rheinau.de One idea is to write to the town's archivist, Dirk Wacker, at mailpost@rheinau.de I would write in English, keep it simple and ask in which church residents of the village of Rheinau in the early to mid 1800's attended church. Give him the names and approx. birth years of your ancestors. Sometimes you get responses to these emails and it could save you some time/money later on. Regards, Paul near Portland, Oregon

    2. My Great-Grandfather, Raphael Glückler (b. 8 Jul 1826) came to the United States with his brother Anton on the ship Florida, arriving in New York on 18 July 1853. They came from the village of Neidingen in Baden. Their parents were Ingaz Glückler and Barbara Dreher. I don't know any middle names for Raphael, Anton or my G-G-Grandparents I would like to learn more of Ingaz and Barbara, and if there were other children. Raphael and Anton appear to be Protestant in the USA, although it is possible they were Catholic in Germany. Are there are any Catholic and Lutheran Church records available from this town in the 1800 + years? Raphael met my Great-Grandmother, Maria E. Wagner (from Rieschweiler, Pfalz, Bavaria, Germany), on the ship to USA and later married and had 5 children: William, John, Sadie, Oscar & Elizabeth (my Grandmother). 2. Christopher Barttels
    3. >From Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter The collapse of the Historical Archive of Cologne as reported here yesterday buried more than a millenium's worth of documents under tons of rubble. Archivists and historians hope something can be salvaged, but the future of the city's past is grim. The building housing Cologne's Historical Archive suddenly collapsed. According to city officials, two people are officially missing and believed dead. And hundreds of firefighters were on the scene Wednesday looking for survivors as Cologne historians and archivists mourned the apparent destruction of Germany's largest municipal archive. "It's an inconceivable loss," Eberhard Illner, a former archivist for the city, told the Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger newspaper. "It's a catastrophe, not just for the city of Cologne but for the history of Europe." Cologne's archives are one of the only collections in Germany to have survived World War II completely intact. Because of Cologne's long history, much of its heritage was stored locally rather than in a state archive.

It is 25% of Wuerttemberg with about 1000 villages and towns including the city of Stuttgart. I do not know of any of the church records on line. Some of the village church records have been extracted and the information is in the IGI. You can use _http://genealogie.becker-wiesbaden.de/igi/igi_search.php_ (http://genealogie.becker-wiesbaden.de/igi/igi_search.php) to obtain the IGI batch numbers for the villages that have been extracted. Many are in progress so all are not complete at this time. To find an ancester you need village name as all church books are by village. The phone book and the IGI are the only source that covers all of Germany or Wuerttemberg. Look for your ancester in the IGI and then see if the records for their village have a batch number. Rheinbischofsheim is in Baden and it's church book is on line. Kent **************Need a job? Find employment help in your area.
