    3. To follow up on Craig's suggestion: Another option to too many emails is to create a separate account (hotmail, yahoo, juno, aol or something else free) just for your list-serves or just for specific research. I do this for some things. Then it's all in one place and you can deal with it as you have time to, and it's separate from the rest of your life, and you can wholesale DELETE by various subjects. Just a thought. You may not have any particular interest in the names that are being posted, and find it annoying to have your email inbox overflowing with posts. But someday you might discover a new name in your family history and one way to look for info on a new name is to go to archives and punch in a search. All of the matches from the search requests that have been submitted thus far will show up in the results, and you will not only have the info Marvin found, but a link to the person who requested it. With all the requests being submitted privately, the very name you might be seeking will never show up. 3. There are mixed opinions of off-list and on-list. Many times I have seen list users ask that information be on-list so that everyone could benefit from the conversation. If the data is not shared with the list then only one person benefits from the result of the conversation. Genealogical information should be shared with anyone who requests it. If is sad, that to some, this conversation clutters up the genealogy list. That's sad ! So, in the future, I will continue to do look-ups for anyone that sends me a surname, BUT, only if they are sent to my private email. I will not respond to any requests for look-ups sent to the BW list, either past , present, or future. If I haven't answered your request as yet, please re-send it again to: [email protected] As before, the best requests have a single surname with several spelling variations, a given name, and any other information that may make the search easier. To the list administrators; if you find that the BW list is falling asleep, let me know and I'll be glad to liven it up again. To the complainers; I apologize to you but suggest you invest in a delete key.
