Thank you, it is an error. I am so used to finding him in NYC under the name Charles Appel that I forgot over in Germany it would be Karl. He did become a USA citizen under the name Karl Appel but when his children were born, etc. he used Charles and named his son Charles and Charles continued on to the present day. Jeanne C. Appel
