Hello Craig and Marvin, This is a great entry and many thanks for the imput from both of you. I was trying to research Andreas Jansen who we know was involved in the 1848/9 revolution. When he died he had a metal plate in his head, from injuries received, this was confirmed on his death certificate. there was a Josef in the family and we wondered if Jean Josef may have been a relation. More research to be done now. Many thanks again, Elizabeth On 29/03/2012 9:37 PM, Craig Gauger wrote: > > It also states he was a political rebel and wanted for quite some time. Most, if not all records have some sort of pages referenced in the bios. As I mentioned to Elizabeth, on her Jean Jose Jansen record the name Leonhard Müller noted in a box labeled "Lit". This box seldom has had an entry and I have only seen it a few times. I hesitate to mention it when it does occur because I can't explain it to people when they question it's meaning. I like to include everything when I answer requests but this "Lit" entry has me puzzled. Can you explain what it could be ? Marvin, Where is this "Lit" and mention of Müller, Leonhard? I don't see it on the record. Hi Mary June and Andreas Here is what little I know about my Fuchs line Veronika Fuchs was born Aug. 31, 1815 Neider Rimsingen Alt Breisah Baden, she died Jan. 19 1885 in Minden, Kearney, Nebraska. She married Joseph Reader (Riede) I believe in Germany before 1848 when they came to America. Joseph was born Feb. 26, 1810 Blaybach ant., Walderch, Baden. Both birthplaces were in the family bible, though Veronica was Veronica Fox. Joseph and Veronica had two children Mary and John, both born in New Jersey, U.S.A. Veronika's parents were Laurenz Fuchs and Katharina Weber. They were married Feb 4 1813 in Niederrimsingen. They had six children (that I know of): Maria born 1814, Veronika, Gervas born 1818, Rosina born 1820, Agatha born 1823, Katharina born 1824. This information is from familysearch.org Laurenz parents were Johann and Elisabeth (Faber) Fuchs Katharina's parents were Gervas and Anastasia (Baehrmaenn) Weber parents names also came from familysearch.org I'll order the films to see what I can learn. Thanks for getting me to work on this line again. Stay in touch Cathy Researching: Claycamp, Gerlach, Grindle, Magin, Mersinger, Reader, Singleton

Marvin, my suggestion is that a Leonhard Müller mentioned this person in an article or a book. The abbreviation "Lit." is for "Literatur" (printed source), in contrast to "Quelle" (inedited reference). By Lisa Burton: Part 2: Solon from Bremen to Moreton Bay 1859, in 'Ances-tree' vol.21 no.2 Jul 2008. Part 3: Diana from Bremen to Moreton Bay 1858, in 'Ances-tree' vol.23 no.3 Nov 2010.
It also states he was a political rebel and wanted for quite some time. In June 1849 he was with a Mannheim resistance group and as Adjutant for Hochsachsen. On 15 July 1849 he was imprisoned at Heidelberg as a political rebel. On 14 August 1849 he was a prisoner at the Rastatter Fort A because of a war betrayal. Though this biography in German below is short, he probably believed he and his comrades were patriots against an unjust enemy. I'm guessing there is more to read by the references to page numbers in the text. I don't know if Marvin has any more knowledge as to where these can be viewed. Craig, I have no more than the list itself and have no idea where information can be found for the referenced page numbers. Marvin, do you have any Kraiss entries? Anne Sydney, Australia
Mary June, it is great how well you've done getting your Fuchs information. For years I didn't know that my Joseph and Frances Fuchs/Fox were born in Germany and looked for ages for them here in Ohio. Found birth records for the children born in Ohio, no background information there, then finally found census records which said they had been born in Wurttemberg. Found just a couple things in church records, giving some birth information on birth of their children, but no place given except Germany, such a puzzle they are since a town or village is so important. But after fourty years I'm not about to give up now, will keep following trails until hopefully I get something new. Will check your Schwaikheim for clues, thank you.
