B530 List Subscribers, Okay. I have sat by the sidelines long enough! There is no 'official' policy by RootsWeb or by myself (2 yrs prior of managing the list before moving it to RootsWeb) on selling materials on the list. When the book offered by Penny started a flare 12 months ago and I stepped into the fire and it cooled things off for a while. Well it is appears to be refestering into another firestorm.. First off, I don't believe the list needs a 'set of rules', being an anarchist at heart. But, there are always exceptions. So here is the first 'rule' to go into the book. #1 - Selling Materials via the B530 Mail List Offers for purchase of materials will not be posted to the list at a frequency of more that once per month ( 12 per year). All posting will include: A. Statement of cost and postage/mailing fees. B. Clear policy of refund. C. Explicate information as to the source, depth and content of the material in it's relation to a Bennett family lineage. If posting are made that do not follow these simple guidelines, one warning will be made directly to the poster and to the B530 list. On the second infraction the poster will be removed from the list and blocked from being able to re-subscribe. Now to make this democratic, let me put this to a vote. At last count there are 250 subscribers on the list. If more that 125 subscribers email me directly at, DRiffe@primusweb.com and tell me that this policy is NOT fair and reasonable then I will open the policy to general discussion. Now this is important - DO NOT EMAIL ME IF YOU AGREE. I certainly do not want my email mailbox filling up with 'right-ons' . Hopefully this will be the end of the book discussion... One more thing. I do not consider the posting as 'spam' at any stretch of the practice. It is not even close. I encourage you not to label any posting that you are not in agreement with as spam. Neither to I support the right to spam. I regularly remove spam and spammers from the list. Hey this is great, make up the rules as you go... Only if you could do this with our tax returns.
