Message from the B530 Webpage http://primusweb.com/genealogy/B530 Posted by: Charles Lonaberger Email: lonabec@netmcr.com There has been too much space taken up by the Linders and associated discussions per their offerings in this space. The general consensus presented here is that their Bennett Book is a localized offering specific to their research interests. As such, if you are connected to their line of Bennetts, the book may be of some use. If not, the book is useless. How many books have you ordered and found not to contain your ancestors? The difference seems to be rooters' expectations that they may order a book, get what they need, and return it if it does not contain sufficient interest for them to keep around for further research. You say you try to contact them first prior to buying the book to see if your ancestor is there but their answer does not meet your expectations? If I was selling the book, I would hate to be inundated with rooters, the majority of which are not going to buy the book as it does not contain references to their ancestor, looking for "free" information. That said, I do not like to see digests like this continue to be used by those pushing their wares when I expect it to contain queries and answers to same. It seems the answer would be for Dana to publish a policy as to standards for posting an advertisement (this is what the Linders are doing) which generates so much controversy, takes up space on his server, and for which he receives no renumeration. However he decides to do it, I would hope he limits the advertisement postings to one every other month, and that he would post a "Buyer Beware" notice at the header of the digest to end discussions such as this (unless advice is asked for). Any violations to his policy would result in a blocking of further postings from that address. I appreciate the warnings from those who disagree with the Linders' policies to those who have not dealt with the Linders, however, when buying anything thru the mail, one must be aware of any return policies up front or suffer the consequences. Finally, let us quit beating a dead horse for those of us who been around awhile. It is getting to be tiresome reading! :-) ------------------------------------------------------
