PUTNAM CO OHIO 1892 Looking for info on the BENNETT'S who were at the courthouse in Putnam Co. Ohio in 1892 to have the land of Charles BENNETT from Jay Co Indiana sold at public auction. Charles bought the Putnam Co land in 1837 when he was living in Wayne Co. Ohio. He died in 1856 in Jay Co. Indiana. This land was not sold until a public auction in 1892 according to the records at Putnam Co. Ohio courthouse. At that time the following people were present, Alexander BENNETT, Charles Henry BENNETT, Catherine M. RODGERS, Harriet R. SWIHART, and Sarah BURNS. I don't know where these people were living. I would guess they lived in Indiana or Ohio. Alexander may be the s/o Joseph and Catherine (JOHNSON) BENNETT of Mercer Co Ohio and a grandson of Charles BENNETT. The others listed may be the children of Alexander. I know Charles and Phoebe had 5 children: Joseph and John who lived in Mercer Co. Ohio. Sarah (md Joseph Frank), Emeline (md Benjamin R. Johnson) & Washington who died in the war. The latter 3 lived in Wisconsin. If anyone can shed some light on any of these families...I would appreciate it. Thanks, Selma
