Part 2 of Joseph Bennett(1733-1815) will Bedford County SS: Personally appeared before the subscriber Register for the probate of wills and granting letters of administration in and for said county. John Barker one of the subscribing witnesses to the within instrument in writing who being conscentiously scruepulous of taking an oath and being duly affirmed doth declare and say that he was personally present and heard and saw Joseph Bennett the testor for within named signed by making his mark, seal and declare the within instrument in writing as and for his last will and testament, that at the time of so doing the said Joseph Bennett was of sound and deposing mind memory and understanding according to the best of said affermants knowledge and belief that he saw Peter Barker subscribe his name thereto as a witness and that the name John Barker thereto subscribed as a witness is the proper hand writing of this affirmant and that he this afferament and the Peter Barker subscribed as witnesses in the presence of the testator and at his request affirmant further saith that the said Peter Barker died sometime in the year of our Lord 1799. At the same time Hugh Iams came personally berfore me and being duly sworn doth depose and say that he is well acquainted with the hand writing of Peter barker the subscribing witness to the within will the said Hugh having often seen him write and that the name Peter barker theretoso subscribed is the prioper hand writing of the saud Peter Barker - deposeant further said that the said Peter barker died about year the 1799 - affirmed to by the said John Barker and sworn to by the said Hugh Iams this 7th day of November A.D. 1815 -- Coram <John Barker> David Mann, Register <Hugh Iiams> Filed and Registered 7th day of November A.D. 1815.
