Will of Joseph Bennett (1733-1815) In the name of God amen I Joseph Bennett of Coldrain township Bedford County and State of Pennsylvania being weak of body but of good and sound memory thanks be to Almighty God and calling to mind the uncertainty of this transitory life and that it is appointed unto all men once to die and after death to come to judgment do make constitute and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following hereby revoking and annuling all other will or wills by me heretofore made or declared and this only to be taken for my last will and no other and first I give my soul to almighty God my saviour and redeemer when he shall please to call and my body to the ground to be buried in a christian manner where my executors hereafter named shall appoint and now for the setting my temporal estate and such goods and chattles? Lands and dwelling debts and dues as it has so? pleased God far above my deserts to bestow upon me I order give and dispose the same in manner following that is to say I give and bequeath into My well, beloved wife Rachel Bennett the full possession and power of my whole estate to take and have her living and dureing her widowhood and after her decease ot termination of widowhood I give and bequeath to my son William Bennett fifteen pounds to be paid as directed. I give and bequeath to my son Joseph Bennett fifteen pounds to be paid as after directed. To my daughter Phebe Bennett the sum of one pound. To my daughter Susanna Bennett the sum of one pound. To my daughter Hannah Bennett one feather bed and beding. To my daughter Rachel Bennett one feather bed and beding, to my daughter Catharine Bennett one feather bed and beding. I give and bequeath to my son Robert the one half of my land being to be divided from the warrior ridge across to Seaross? That part laying toward the south of Youngs line only he shall to my son William Bennett the fifteen pounds mentioned to him. I further order that all such debts as in right of conscience I owe to any person be paid within convenient time after my decease by my executors and all property mou? remaining remaining at the decease or termination of widowhood of my said wife after her funeral charges and the beds and beding be delivered as abovesaid and the sums paid as mentioned shal be there more or less equally divided by an equal share to each of my children mentioned in this my last will and for them truly performing and executeing thiss my last will and testament.
