I was told that Thomas Bennett and Nancy Sinks came to LA from GA , then left for MS , and returned to LA before 1850. Thomas was listed as a Registrar of U.S. Land in 1860 census, St. Helena Parish, LA. I was also told that Thomas Bennett was possibly a child of Reuben Bennett, Jr. b. 1786, d. 6 Dec. 1838 , m. 14 Feb 1804 , to Sarah " Sally " Robertson, b. 1786, daughter of David Robertson, Sr. , ( 1730-1806) and his second wife. I was told that Reuben and Sarah were married in Clarke County , GA by M. Kenton , Justice of the Peace, and that they moved to LA by 1812- 1818. Can anyone verify whether or not Reuben Bennett , Jr. and Sarah Robertson are really the parents of my Thomas Bennett. ? Reuben Bennett , Sr. and Elizabeth ( Mary " Peachy " ) Tarpley are Reuben Bennett, Jr's parents. My source says that Elizabeth Tarpley was the daughter of Col. James Tarpley of VA. Were they both from VA , and if so, what part of VA and where else did they live ? Any details such as dates, specific counties and states they lived in would be greatly appreciated .
