    3. I'm jumping into the discussion of Pennsylvania Bennetts with another plea to those researching in that area to watch out for a clue that might help me with my search. I have a handwritten family history which has proven true in almost all other details, so seems a fairly reliable source, written in 1950 by a relative born in the 1870's. Her record indicates that my g-g-g-g-grandfather was a Dr. John Bennett who came from England to Pennsylvania at some point, then returned to England for medical training, married a Miss York, and settled somewhere in Pennsylvania. His son Hardiman Bennett (my g-g-g-grandfather) was born "in Virginia" (according to census records) about 1775, so Dr. John had left PA by then, one assumes. The family history says John ultimately settled near Cowpens, SC. I have found his son Hardiman Bennett in the early 1800's in southwest NC, just across the line from SC. There are land records of *a* John Bennett (not necessarily *the* John Bennett) in the early 1800's in these sections of NC/SC. I've concluded that I should look for John Bennett in Pennsylvania any time from 1750 to 1800. Hardiman Bennett married Permelia Young about 1809. Their children that I know for sure were: John, Young, Mark, James, Holliman, Francis/Frances/Fanny, Betsy, Polly, and 2 or 3 others. With the unusual Hardiman name, and the probable marriage to a York, I am hoping that someone will run across a record that would help me find this "needle in a stack of needles." I will be visiting Pennsylvania in October for the first time and hope to have a few days in Harrisburg. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I could maximize my research time there?<<<<
