QUOTE Subject: Re: Re: John BENNETT (Samuel-2?, Edward-1?); Stonington, CT; 1600s Date: Wed, 26 Aug 1998 18:35:46 EDT From: Pmmarkle@aol.com To: jackpot@crosswordjackpot.com Lew: You make reference to Bennett families of Pa in Mid 1700 to abt 1800. I have a line like that. Dr John Bennett m Dublin, Ireland Mary Houston, had three children: James, George and Jane, immigrated to Phila ca 1761 along with Mary's sister, Jane and had Thomas ca 1763. Mary died, the Dr m Jane Houston and had Martha, Mary Elizabeth and moved to Harrisburg, Dauphin, PA where the youngest son, William Plunkett was b 1781. The doctor died and his widow, Jane Houston Bennett remarried and migrated to Cayuga Co, NY.ca 1789. (James and George were early entries in Seneca County land grants) so the widow may have moved to what is now Seneca County. James m Sarah Richardson, George m Hannah Price, a widow, Jane m George Barkley, Martha m Thomas White, Mary E "Polly" m Joseph Richardson, and William P m Elizabeth Harris Vance, a widow (dau of Samuel Harris son of founder of Harrisburg). If any of these Bennetts hit your similar christian ones, let me know.
