    2. Who is Penlin304@aol.com? It's Penny & O.D. Linder We are just a couple of people who love genealogy. For about 40 years now, we have researched several families in state archives, libraries, other major depositories, etc. Also in Wash. D.C., Salt Lake City, etc. We would spend several days, or a few weeks each time, and, after retirement, sometimes a few months. Each time we gathered and collected whatever information we found. We have about 75 notebooks full, each with 500 to 1000 pages of handwritten or xeroxed material we have collected. We are assembling this information by surname. We plan to publish this information and we will be announcing each one as we get it ready for publication. There are no names and addresses from telephone books or like material in any of our publications. Our Family Histories: These are full of family lines and their connections to each other and to other families. We have finished "The Gibson and Related Families", "The Linder Family", and "The Dever and Related Families". Our Family Records Series: Each of these are about one surname, but will give a lot of different people of that one surname, and will show some connections to other families. These are Reference books, giving data as it was found in Histories, Genealogies, Immigration, Passenger and other Genealogical sources and records. Each source and it's author is clearly identified so you know what data was in the book/record and who wrote it. We have finished "Bennett Families Records", "Baker Families Records", and "Devereux Families Records". We were born, raised, and live in West Virginia. We've lived here in Morgantown, W.Va. for about 9 years now, moving here from Clarksburg, W.Va, where we had lived for about 35 years, and before that in Grafton and Fink, W.Va. O.D. retired from a glass company. My occupation was, and still is, a Wife and Mom. We do not have a web page. They take up a lot of time if done and maintained properly, and we doubt if it would be visited very often. Thanks for listening Penny Penlin304@aol.com

    1. Elijah BENNETT Diadem ARCHER 179os Monmouth Co., NJ
    2. VICTORIA L SULLIVAN
    3. I've been hunting through census for Elijah lately, so I'll inquire if anyone else knows him. Note for locations - Part of Monmouth Co., NJ became Ocean Co. in 1850. Location name changes do not necessarily reflect family moves. I have tried to use the correct county depending on what year the event occurred, even though my source (or yours) may list a different county. Elijah BENNETT b. 9 May 1793 in NJ, m. Diadem(y) ARCHER 6 Nov 1817 in Monmouth Co. NJ d. 7 Aug 1871 New Egypt, Ocean Co. NJ. Diadem(y) (the name is spelled both ways in different records) ARCHER b. 1 Aug 1797 in NJ (probably Monmouth Co.) children- Mary BENNETT b. 1820, NJ Ellen BENNETT b. 21 Dec 1823 Monmouth Co., NJ, d. 25 Mar 1845 New Egypt, Monmouth Co., NJ George W. BENNETT b. abt 1831 New Egypt, Monmouth Co., NJ m. Margaret (surname and dates unknown) abt 1855 Queen Anne's Co. MD Diadem (Diadamia) BENNETT b. abt 1832 New Egypt, Monmouth Co. NJ Ivins BENNETT b. 9 Oct 1835 New Egypt, Monmouth Co. NJ d. 30 May 1839 New Egypt, Monmouth Co., NJ William H. BENNETT b. 9 Jan 1837 New Egypt, Monmouth Co., NJ d. 17 Nov 1851 New Egypt, Ocean Co., NJ Ivins (Evan) BENNETT b. abt 1840 New Egypt, Monmouth Co., NJ Amanda BENNETT b. abt 1842 New Egypt, Monmouth Co., NJ William J. BENNETT b. abt 1849 New Egypt, Monmouth Co., NJ The 1790, 1800, 1810 and 1820 censuses for NJ have not survived. In 1830, Elijah BENNETT had a household in Upper Freehold Twp., Monmouth Co., surrounded by families named ARCHER. The most likely candidates to be Diadem's father are George ARCHER or John ARCHER by their ages, but there are several brothers, sons or cousins in the area. A number of BENNETTs live in Shrewsbury Twp. To confuse matters even further, a Diademe(y) ARCHER is listed in the 1784 and 1785 Tax Lists in Shrewsbury Twp. A widowed mother or aunt, perhaps? In later years, only male names appear. In 1840, Elijah is still in Upper Freehold, with neighbors Samuel M. ARCHER, John ARCHER, Daniel ARCHER and William ARCHER. James ARCHER and Isaac ARCHER live near by, as do George ARCHER, David ARCHER and J. Wesly ARCHER. In 1850, the county is divided and the southern part of Upper Freehold Twp. Monmouth Co. is now Plumsted Twp. Ocean Co. Elijah BENNETT and the ARCHER clan remain in the same location geographically. Does any of this sound familiar? I'm looking for Elijah's parents and siblings, as well as clear identification of which of the numerous ARCHER clan produced Diadem. I have found clusters of BENNETTs in Shrewsbury Twp. and Middleton Twp., but no indication of where Elijah came from, just the obvious fact that he must have gotten on well with his wife's family. Any clues appreciated Victoria Sullivan vlsulliv@jps.net

    1. Albert Arnold BENNETT
    2. K & C Billinsky
    3. Hello, I need help with the following BENNET. I searched the archived digests, and the only reference I found to this entire family was 06 Jul 1997 by "J. Wittke" <wiseguy@e-z.net> who found Prof. Albert Arnold BENNETT in a 1944 issue of American Men of Science. The following information is from a biography of Albert Arnold BENNETT, Sr. by his wife. Albert BENNETT was born 16 Apr 1848 in Philadelphia, PA. He was the fifth child. His mother, of Huguenot descent, died when he was 7. His father, a deacon at the 5th Baptist Church in Philadelphia, died when Albert was 18. Albert married Mela Isabel BARROWS, whose father was the Rev. Brainard W. BARROWS of Middleton, CT. Albert was an American Baptist Missionary, the second Christian missionary to Japan, and the first to translate the Bible into Japanese. He died in Yokohama, Japan 12 Oct 1909, and was buried there. Together, Albert and Mela BENNETT had 7 children, all born in Yokohama, Japan. Albert Arnold BENNETT, Jr., mentioned above, was a prof. at Brown University, Providence, RI. He died of stroke BEF 1972 at ABT 86 years of age. He was married and had a daughter. Two sons of Albert and Mela are unknown. A daughter Elsie died BEF 1972. A son Brainard was living and married in 1972. Daughter Bertha never married and died AFT 1972. Harriet Colburn BENNETT who died AFT 1972 and is buried in Newton Center, MA with her husband, Fredrick W. FRENCH was also a child of Albert and Mela. She is my great-grandmother. She gave birth to my grandmother, Elizabeth Mathot FRENCH, in Adams, MA in 1916. This is all I have on my BENNETT ancestors. If anyone recognizes any of these people, or know of BENNETT's in Philadelphia, PA in 1848, please help! Thank you, Kathryn Billinsky.

    2. Message from the B530 Webpage http://primusweb.com/genealogy/B530 Posted by: Allene Oates Email: oates@microsped.com I have a story that was told to me by my father-in-law, Armstead Oates Sr., who died back in 1992. He wanted to know if his grandmother, Susan was ever married. If anyone knows about this story, I would love to see if I can put it to rest. It is told that she was born 26 Sept. 1858 in Carroll Co., Miss. Out around Jefferson Community. It was told that she had her five children, (1) Mae Bell, (2) Appalona, (3) Leona,(4) Joseph Tidlem,(5) Albert K. "Dutch". by a Lee Bennett, that was married to her sister, Pairlee. Were they Quakers? or Mormans? . Lee Bennett was the son of Henry H. Bennett and Hannah Taylor Bennett. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Just thought I'd put this in, on one Census for Carroll Co., Miss. she was a widow and another she was divorced. Doesn't make sinse to me . Any help appreciated. 3. Gilbert Jean: Your email this date states you have a Lucinda Bennett in your line and asks if we have further information on our Lucinda for whom we are searching. In my original message I stated Lucinda as born in PA in 1830 and husband John W. Higgins as born in 1835. Those are reversed. Lucinda was born in 1835 and John in 1830. The marriage date is correct: 9 Mar in Schuyler County IL. This is all we know about Lucinda other than her descendants. Nothing further on her parents or siblings.
