Although I am not (to my knowledge) related to your William Philip Bennett, I grew up in Amityville on Long Island, one block from a street named Bennett Place. This street was named long before my family moved to Amityville and was perhaps connected with your ancestor. I say we are not related since your William Phillip was of Welsh descent while I am descended from William Adriaense Bennet of Dutch or French descent, who was one of the earliest European settlers of Brooklyn, NY, having bought land from the Indians in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn in 1636. In any event, if I knew where Old Calvary Cemetery was located I could possibly help with your research. I am not aware of any such cemetery in the Amityville area. In searching the Internet I found a Guide to Long Island/Historic Burial Places ( http://www.lihistory.com/specguid/clist.htm ) with the closest named cemetery being Calvary Cemetery in Woodside, dating back to 1848. I doubt if this is the cemetery you are referring to, and in any event is too far away in Queens County while I live in Suffolk County. Hi Has anyone come across a Richard Bennett from London in the 1860's ? His full name may have been Richard Samuel Bennett. He married on 18 March 1861 at the parish church of St. George (the Martyr ?), Southwark, Surrey (sic) but the certificate omits certain details. He married Alice Beavan. Her father was Thomas Beavan (occupation Farmer). His father was Charles Bennett (occupation Beer Retailer) Both bride and groom give their address as "Townsend Street" (which still exists - off the Old Kent Road in south London) Both give their ages as "full" which has inhibited ny search for birth certificates. Hi I am trying to find any information on Aaron Bennett. Aaron was born around 1818 in Indiana. He married Mary Markley in 1838 in Ohio. I did check the information on the marriage index from Indiana and it did list a William Bennett married Rebekoh Pitman in Harrison County on Nov 3, 1817. Thanks to a wonderfull lady ~ Lorene Veal who found my Bennett line and e-mailed me the information, I now have a real start. I would like to share this.
