    3. Hello, everyone. I am the List Administrator of this list. Sincerely, > The RootsWeb team > > As has been done by other Rootsweb genealogy mailing lists List Administrators, I have created a group on groups.io, at https://groups.io/g/Bennett-genealogy which provides a mailing list facility (which is apparently, superior to the Rootsweb genealogical mailing list facility). That web page includes the group description, and other information about the group. You can create an account, from that web page, and, search for other genealogical, or other, groups that may interest you, or, you can subscribe to the mailing list, directly, by sending an email message to Bennett-genealogy+subscribe@groups.io As that email address contains the plus symbol, you need to ensure that you use exactly that email address, if you use this method. Please subscribe, and, post an introductory message, stating your lineage, and, any queries that you have. Remember; this (Rootsweb) mailing list, and, all Rootsweb mailing lists, are scheduled to cease operation, as of 02 March 2020. -- Bret Busby List Administrator Armadale West Australia .............. 1. Re: [B530] WV BENNETTs
    2. Am re-trying to send this it is for everyone ,and no one in particular, Don't know if this will go through or not, can't remember how to go to the main sight for posting ,as has been awhile. I just wanted to say I had some of my Bennett's liveing in Raliegh area of WV for a short time ,so make sure to check census' well. They were from the tn/Nc areas mostly. My one line of Bennett's come from Wilvescomb Eng, But I have a cousins daughter in Wv who has WV Bennett's up around Moundsville, and then my two sister in laws are Bennett's whose line runs up in the NY/NJ area theirs and mine do not cross and actually their lines come over from Hungary . You need to rememeber to check EVERY VARIATION of the name, and check maiden names as well.Sometimes wives didn't use husbands last names .I recently had been following our Jones name that had been Zona only to find that in Italy like in Ireland the mother didn't change her last name and the name I needed was Montevada. Another thing also and NOT trying to be rude ,is that one need check all race possibilitys, as we all know ,via the slave days and ALSO the indentured slave lists as there are those who took the names as last names and thus you will have to look elsewhere. Another thing on that note which most people DO NOT look into is this---- The black race wasn't originally sold to the white Europeans ,they were sold to the Saudi Arabians, yes its true, so when someone is searching on those lines ,they need to look into those areas for the last name they are researching , since blacks came from not just Africa ,but Egypt,Turkey,Isreal,The Nile, Nigeria ,The Moors ect., the need to search a simular spelling of the name is important, you can find online an area to check names in different languages and find the simular connections. Just an idea. Now ,also there are families who took a last name that was common ,if they were fleeing and hideing,so check info on the mother 's line useing the oldest childrens names for possibilities. {Much like I mentioned above on my Jones line,I found it on my Ressel name as well as it was originally Rousell and have many variations from different countries surrounding the original family name} Bennett is a very common name but spelled many ,many different ways, and it also can be mis written via old census takers of the past who were not as good at spelling or who used the OLD English . Since it is a name that can be found in France,Germany,Austria,England ect. ect ect. one can also look for OLD cemetaries and start there for answers. Just because you find them in the U.S. doesn't mean not to stretch further in the search. My name is Dawn M. I too live in Jacksonville,Fla and maybe I hope I have helped some of you. My intention was not to keep anyone from posting. I would just rather see something about the family line they are researching. After all, Dr. Bennett and I connected family once I posted what I had. That was a much more fruitful posting. Maybe if all the members were to post at least some of their tree more connections could be made. It does do some good to post even if you are stating YOUR Bennett's aren't related and are from "...", because the entire list is reading the post/e-mail and maybe they can find a connection with that person.
