    1. [AZSANTAC] A.M. CONARD - Nogales 1890-1913?
    2. Hello- New on this site. I have bumbled into a fascinating family connection that takes me to Nogales from around 1899 to 1913. My great aunt, Mary Ellen ROBINSON (then Beaumont by an early first marriage) - married an Albert M. CONARD in Red Bluff, Tehama County, California , Feb 11, 1892. They first seem to have gone to Williams, Arizona where Albert owned and operated a Brewery and ice plant. Then in 1899, Albert is in the Phoneix newspapers saying that he is leaving Williams to move to Nogales and operate a brewery and ice plant there. I don't know what became of that business , but Albert Conard made his fortune in copper mining - mostly in Sonora Mexico, it seems, although he kept his residence in Nogales. He and Mary seperated or divorced (sometime 1899 - 1902?) and Albert married a Francescia I. Valencia from Mexico sometime in 1904. She states that she came to Nogales in 1903 (and Naturalized that same year). Some of the companies that Albert worked for or owned were: Hayes-Danies(?)-Conard (copper properties in the Cananea district is "in the city") Hays Consolidated Mining, Milling and Lumber company SONORA CONSOLIDATED MINING & SMELTING CO. (International Copper Ore Corporation, Legalized in Mexico) Albert seems to have left Nogales as a residence around 1913 -but not before a fascinating interaction with a Mexican "legend", Emilio Kosterlitzky., whom I am reading up about. I wonder if Naturalization records are located in Nogales or the State Archives? How about records of mines? Land records? I am planning a quick trip to Phoenix next week and plan to stop into the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records - anything I should particularly look into there? (PS. Sadly, Albert's first wife, "my" Mary Conard died as a prostitute in the Red Light district of Tucson in April of 1902. I have a fascinating newspaper account of the murder - suicide - her lover shot her - and have many questions of what could have led her to such a decline.)
