    3. Hello, I am responding to the earlier e-mail from a person who was telling everyone how to get records from counties using the Freedom of Information Act. The FOIA is a federal law dealing with access to federal records. Although some states do have FOIA laws, not every state does. For those that do, they are not always the same as the federal law. Every state has different laws relating to their public records. Every state and local government has different prices for photocopying or reproducing records. Before I would ask any repository to reproduce records under a state FOIA law, I would make certain what the state law says. Melanie Sturgeon Melanie I.
