The should be on file at the Ajo Copper News, a mining town weekly since 1916, as well. Ajo Copper News November 11, 1976 Samuel Richard Ball, 62, died after a short illness at the New Cornelia hospital. Born May 5, 1914 in Marysville, Ohio, came to Ajo in September of 1945. Married Dorothy M. Blake July 3, 1951. Survived by his six sons: James and Daniel Ball of Huntington, W. Va., Melvin and Glenn Blake of Ajo, Bud Blake of Kearny [AZ}, and Bob Blake of Superior [AZ}; one daughter Darla Ball of Phoenix; two sisters: Pluma Gibson of Midland, Michigan and Marcella Estep of Chesapeake, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren. A daughter, Vernie [Marjorie?] Johnson predeceased him. Ajo Copper News May 14, 1987 Dorothy May Ball, 73, died Thursday morning May 7, 1987 at her home in Ajo. Mrs. Ball was born in Carlsbad, N M on May 21, 1913 the daughter of Jasper K and Lonie Crawford Simpson. She came to Arizona 64 years ago from Texas and moved to Ajo from Miami, Arizona 41 years ago. She is survived by Roy Ball of Buckeye [AZ}, Donald (Bud) Blake of Kearny, Bob Blake of Superior, Glenn Blake of San Diego, and Darla Ball of Ajo; by her brothers Glenn and Eugene Simpson of Ajo, a sister Elsie Walker of Central, NV and fourteen grandchildren. Mrs. Ball was predeceased by Samuel R. Ball and Marjorie Johnson.
